Seura on saanut tänäkin vuonna puolet Lukupuron vesikasvien niittotyöstä. Espoon kaupunki maksaa talkootyöstä seuralle palkkion eli saamme näin varoja seuran toimintaan ja tapahtumiin. 

Kaupunki toimittaa työvälineet eli raivaussahan, viikatteita ja haravia. Osmankäämit ja järviruoot leikataan, haravoidaan rannalle ja kerätään kasoiksi kävelyreittien varrelle, josta kaupunki noutaa ne pois. Suurpelto-seura tarjoaa talkooruoat ja juomat. 

Työ on melko raskasta, mutta hyvässä seurassa antoisaa. Työ soveltuu yli 15-vuotiaille. Aloitamme perjantaina 5.8. klo 10. Voit tulla mukaan myös muutamaksi tunniksi.

Cutting the water plants from Lukupuro 5.-7.8.  

Suurpelto Association will cut the water plants from Lukupuro as a voluntary work. The city of Espoo pays for the work to our association, so we get money for our community work and many events. 

We shall work 5 – 7.8. starting on Friday at 10 am. The city of Espoo gives us tools like saws and hakes. The work is quite hard but with good company also rewarding. The work suites for persons over 15 years.  Suurpelto-seura offers food and refreshments for workers. We are glad if you can participate for a few hours.

Olen pistänyt merkille, että Lukutori taitaa olla rakas paikka seuran väelle ja asukkaille. Eipä silti, viihdyn siellä minäkin, sillä sitä on hoidettu ja kohennettu monin tavoin. Oi, miten ihana ruiskukka- ja unikkopelto siellä yksi kesä olikaan! Entäs ne sadat narsissit, jotka sinne talkootyönä istutettiin. Kukkalaatikoitakin laitettiin ja innolla kasteltiin niin, että ne kukoistivat koko kesän.  

Ja kyllähän uuden Lukutorin ilme hieno onkin, joskin aika kivinen. Lehdessä oikein kerrottiin, kuinka työmaa oli kokonaan päästötön. Vau! Torille saatiin seuran esityksestä Pegasos  ja muusa -patsaskin. Onpa puistossa kaistale, johon seuran multasormet saavat istuttaa kukkia. Vähän väriä puistoon, sanon minä! 

On jännittävää seurata, kuinka maisema pikkuhiljaa muuttuu. Puistokadulla pitää olla puita ja puistoja, eikö niin?  Kyllä! Pitkä odotus palkittiin ja viimein Suurpellon puistokadun kaupunkipuistoakin päästiin rakentamaan. Koskahan Henttaan puistokatu kokee saman muutoksen? Nyt hiekkakenttä on otettu parkkipaikaksi ja jopa autonrotiskojen säilytykseen…huoh.  Olisipa tässä puita, pensaita ja kukkia tai vaikka niittyä! Ja ehkä joukkoon mahtuisi muutama paikka autoillekin. Pikkuhiljaa, pikkuhiljaa, on vielä maltettava mieltä.  

Entäpä tuo kesken jäänyt rakennusalue toria vastapäätä!? Onneksi linnut löysivät tiensä sinne, niin on jotain iloa vesilätäköistä. Tämäkin käännettiin myönteiseksi ja tehtiin niistä  valokuvanäyttely Opinmäen vitriiniin. Kiitos Bore ja muut kuvaajat! 

Anna B likes hangaround at Lukutori: 

I have noticed that Lukutori is a very dear place to the folks of the association and the residents. Why not – I also enjoy being there because it has been taken care of and fixed up in many ways. Oh, how wonderful cornflower and poppy field there was one summer! And what about the hundreds of daffodils that were planted with community effort. Also flower boxes were built and watered so that they bloomed the whole summer. 

And the new look of Lukutori is fine even though a bit stony. They even told in the newspaper how the whole building site was emission free. Wow! The sculpture of Muusa and Pegasos was also placed on Lukutori after the association suggested that. And there is also a place where the green fingers of the association can plant flowers. More colours to the park I say! 

It is exciting to follow how the scene changes little by little. In the esplanade there must be trees or what? Yes!  Long waiting was reward when at last they started to build the park along Suurpellon puistokatu. When will Henttaan puistokatu see the same change? Now the sand field is taken for car parking and even for storing junk cars – sigh. If there were trees, bushes, and flowers or at least a meadow. And maybe there could be room for a few cars too? Little by little, you need to hold back still.  

And what about that unfinished construction site opposite the park!? Fortunately, the birds found their way to the puddle. The birds have given a great joy for residents. Amazing, how this was turned to positive action and a photo exhibition was built to Opinmäki. Thanks to Bore and his colleagues!
